He says, she says, Meri Kurisumasu!

25 12 2010

Inspired by the festivities over at E.G.s blog, I caught an out-of-nowhere urge to stalk pictures of guys in Santa suits. Sounds kinda creepy, I know, but hey, t’is the festive season after all! *leaps down 20ft chimney*

Bi says,
Ho! Ho! Ho! Yo! Yo! Yo! Merry Christmas to all mah fans, all mah badass fans all over da world. I promise y’all I will grow in the New Year.”

jicks says,
“Executing Plan Bi! Executing Plan Bi! Don’t run(a)way (lame-o, lol)! Oh baby, you know that I love you regardless of how tall you are! We’ve been through this already, remember? Regardless of any lacklustre sh*t you may churn out, you know- you know that I will love you until the end of time. And you know what, you were actually one of the more commendable things about Fugitive! I bet that makes you feel better :) By the way, Merry Christmas! xD”

Ji Hoon says,
“Merry Christmas. I will be back. I will be back as a changed man. So, please, wait for me.”

jicks says,
“A changed man? By any chance does that mean a better man (please)? Hmm. Whatevs, I still like you (alot. A fudge lot.) My dearest Prince Shin. My lost soul Oh Seung Ha. My cake-a-licious Kim Jin Hyuk. My hotness of a sister-in-law-snatcher Du Rae. My… er, darn, I’ve run out of things of yours to watch (!) Seriously, could you not have left me with a teeny tiny bit more? Guess I have no choice but to wait. Wait for you right here.” *inhales shot of Special K* (I’m talking about the cereal, guys! The cereal! Not that bad stuff, okies?) “Oh by the way, Ji Hoon, Merry Christmas <3”

(^^photo credit: Totally So Ji Sub)

Ji Sub says,
“Merry Christmas. Hey. Can someone explain to me why my dramas aren’t rating anymore?”

jicks says,
*GIANT SIGH* *headbang into nearest brick wall* “Ji Suuuuuuub!!!!!! Why, WHY do you keep falling into these colossally melodramatic stories?????? I’m sorry but I loathed Cain & Abel, & now, Road Number One… they were just too much to take in (I could not breathe!) Maybe it’s not fair that I am going by your pre-military resume, maybe I am expecting too much but your post-military work has certainly been… sucky. But I still love you. Forever have, forever will. So please, I beg of you, choose your next project carefully. Perhaps ease off on the super heavy drama stuff  for a while (just an idea.) And by the way, Merry Christmas (*´ー`*).”

Jun says,
“Hello, my name is, MatsuJun. Meri kursumasi. Please, lemme learn to drive. And my fellow bandmates, too. Because my band is onto achieving HUGE things. ”

jicks says,
“Jun-kun, my darling lil narcissist (you know you are!)- gomen, gomen, gomenasai… I still haven’t watched your latest dorama yet (you know, the one where you play Takeuchi Yuko’s toyboy… surely I could handle being in her situation!) but I will definitely get onto it real soon (like, next year. lol) I’m also sorry for not mentioning you & your bandmates more on my blog but you have to believe me, you guys still fureaking get me smiling gaily from the bottom of my heart everytime I see your faces &/or hear your voices. So, Merry Christmas, & Arashi for Dream ^U^!”

Jin says,
“(Man)Ho! (Man)Ho! (Man)Ho! Meree kurisumasee to all my Eemricaan fans! Together with you guys & gals, by the year 3010, I’m going to turn this world into Yellow Gold.”

jicks says,
“It’s Christmas Morning Jin!!!!!! Sh*t Snow is falling!!!!!! Well, not where I am but is it where you are? Honestly, while I do miss seeing you on the Japanese scene & wished that you would dibble more in dorama world, I do sincerely hope you will achieve some (if not great) success as a solo artist, because musically, I do think you have something special going on. Just, er, maybe, work on the Engrish a smidgen, okay^^;? Now, Meri Kurisumasu to you! :DD”

———

^^And that’s all the red-suit-action I managed to come across >_>… Apparently, all my other “favourites” seem to wear normal clothes at this time of the year. How, I dunno, unfestive (?? -_-;)

Anyways, eat lots & be merry everybody!

☆☆☆ Meri Kurisumasu!! ☆☆☆

<3 jicks ^_^

[ P.S. If you do happen to find the likes of Eita, Oguri Shun, Kimura “I still believe in The Dorama King” Takuya, Miura Haruma, Kang Dong Won, Kim Jae Wook, Joe Cheng or Vic Zhou in Christmas-y attire, please share so I can, ah, drag them down with the other guys in this post ( ̄□ ̄;) (!!)]

:-) :-) Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year. Lts all hope that ou favorites will do great things in 2011. Agree with your wishes for Ji Sub. Lighten up a little in 2011 Ji Sub.
Have not seen Kimura san in Santa clothes but he was a reindeer one Christmas. I think so was Shingo. that was a great christmas Show……

jicks

Hey, thanks for the warm wishes Peggy & Happy Holidays to you too! *hugs* Hope you had a good Chrissie :)

You’re a So Ji Sub fan too? When did it all begin for you? xDD It’s frustrating at the moment because he appears to be choosing “serious dramas” to prove that he is a “serious actor” but darn, we know he is one already! Not to say that I want him to avoid heavy dramas altogether but I don’t want him to pick up dramas for the sake of challenging himself as an actor (because we know he has the goods already,) he just needs to be more selective, know what he can do best & make the absolute most of it. There’s nothing wrong with doing similar stuff again if you do it super well, right? *coughs*Kimura*coughs* ;P (Btw, Kimura as a reindeer? *eyebrow twitch* Which year was that? I may need to do some googling action!)

Happy holidays, jicks! Excellent idea for a post– stars in Santa suits– loving it… now if only we can find pictures of the stars in your post script. :)

Happy Holidays to you too zooey!

I thought about spending some time photoshopping some Santa gear onto those other dudes… but then I decided to feast instead xDD

Hope you had a sweet Christmas ^^

Totally love it! Jin and his Engrish. It would be nice if he improved. I didn’t even know that Ji Hoon had that many different roles. Ah, So Ji Sub. Haven’t seen any of his latest dramas mainly because I am not a huge fan of war stuff so that meant I automatically skipped Road. I think you can safely put off watching MatsuJun’s drama until much, much later. I only managed a total of 4 episodes before I decided I really wanted to give up on it.

I really can’t believe there are no pics of the others. How unfestive indeed. Great job on the comments and all.

jicks

Hey wolforion! Hope you had a merry lil Chrissie :D

OMG, I can count the number of drama series & films that Ju Ji Hoon has starred in on ONE hand- & that’s both series & films combined. I think I’ve even watched all his CFs >_>///… ridiculous right lol It is kinda a shame that he was apprehended at a time his career was just really taking off but what can you do hey. It’s just fortunate that his punishment wasn’t more severe.

I usually don’t mind stories on war provided that they are done well- you know, have a good storyline, represent the era, reflect a lil bit on the history… it doesn’t have to be a documentary as such or anything, it just has to… make sense. Say, Tae Guk Gi, is freaking brilliant; also Welcome to Dongmakgol; Joint Security Area; Saving Private Ryan; Tokyo Daikushu… all stuff would recommend :)

Re natsuniji, well, even though people are warning me with sirens & giant fire-engine-red in-your-face flags to dodge this series like a plague, I will still be finding 10hours of my life (give or take) to watch it. I wouldn’t wanna disappoint Johnny K lol

Peggy

Hi again jicks,
Been trying to find the video with Kimura and Shingo in their Christmas show a few years back. No luck as yet because I have had PC trouble and they changed me from WinXP to Win7 and in the process lost some stuff and I can’t open some files. Maddening.
Anyway I guess this show was about four years ago?? They were doing a drama type of thing and telling a Christmas story. Had guest stars. Tamori was one. They showed backstage and Kimura was eating everything in sight. Had a lady gooking stuff. He and shingo were in reindeer costumes. they had everyone saying “MERRY CHRISMAP’ instead of the usual Merry Christmas. If I find this video I will tell you. :-)
I can’t remember when I first saw JiSub. I have been watching Kimura for over fifteen years and SMAP just after that. I like the way they have all grown up. I saw Jisub and Song Sung Un(?) with Park Yong Ha on an early interview type of show. such good friends. Funny show.

31 12 2010
jicks

At least you skipped the horror that was Windows Vista! ;D

Never mind if you don’t find that SMAP video Peggy :) Thankyou dearest for looking nonetheless! At least now I have some information to go hunting for it… it does sound like the guys had a very ChrisSMAPpy time ahahahah ^^

I can’t believe you’ve followed Kimura for 15years! *hat tip* *bows* How did you manage to understand his dramas in the early days? (Do you understand Japanese?)

I remember that So Ji Sub + Song Seung Hun + Park Yong Ha interview! I think they were laughing from start to finish & Ji Sub was simply too cute (like spring chicken cute! :D) The clip really showed what great friends the three guys are. I remember watching some footage of Ji Sub attending Park Yong Ha’s wake & I don’t think my heart could’ve broke any harder for him. Kinda the same feeling as I watched Ji Hoon attend Lee Eon’s funeral. While it’s sad that Eon & Yong Ha aren’t with us anymore, in some way it’s warming to see & know that such great friendship exists within the entertainment industry <3

Anyways, on a lighter & brighter note, here's wishing everyone a super, SMAPtastic 2011~! xDD

Oh dear….’Had a Lady COOKING stuff’ sorry. Kimura was eating these little dainties and said he had eaten over fifty of them. They looked like small meat pies in a sauce. He sure uses up all his energy and has to replenish !!

Ender's Girl

That’s what she said! lulz Ahahahahahahaha LOVING this seriously awesome holiday treat, jicks!!!!!! Dunno what was funnier, your fave Santa-boys’ X’mas greetings, or your (naughty AND nice) rejoinders!!!

(Did it take you a long time hunting down these piccies?)

Quickie comments per hottie:

Plan Bi (ahaha):
“Badass Bi”? Oh my… Last thing we need is Bi in a Santa suit going around slicing up random people for the holidays. (Ninja Assassin was so gross, I couldn’t even finish it despite Bi’s Bodacious Bod.) Am cautiously optimistic towards Fugitive, though. Have you been keeping tabs on this? Can we expect a review soon? heh heh ^^;;

Joo Ji-hoon
Oh dear, that must be the MOST DEPRESSING Santa photo I’ve evah seen!!! The bleakness on JJH’s face + unlit ciggy + sitting on sidewalk + doubled over in… withdrawal (lol)… I wanna hug mah Shin-goon now! Bring him home soon, Government of Korea! *lovingly packs giant wedge of tofu lol*

So Ji-sub
“Merry Christmas. Hey. Can someone explain to me why my dramas aren’t rating anymore?” — GOLD!!! hihihi =P

MatsuJun
Awww, how kawaii, Santa had to take a gyoza break in between his gift-giving duties! And those boots are fierce, baby! (ROFL @ “darling little narcissist” — is he really?) And your referencing Arashi’s automobile mishaps this year = SUCH A LULZ! XD (Mebbe Jun’s better off driving a sleigh?)

Jinny
“Man (Ho)” — Ahahahaha! Well you certainly saved the best for last, lol. I keep scrolling back to his photo and giggling hysterically. LMFAOOOO that pose is SO GAY. Dunno if it’s the tilt of the head or the come-hither eyes or the open mouth or the booted foot in the air — okay, it must be the foot in the air, lulz. This is one side of him we haven’t been seeing much of lately, eh? Now all this picture needs is (who else?) Kame as a scantily clad elf giving Jolly Ol’ St. Jinny a back rub, lololol

And what Jin & you both said = MADE MY DAY. Def. my fave part of this post! (Lmao @ “Sh*t snow is falling“) And srsly, Jin’s “Christmas Morning” song is gonna be a self-fulfilling prophecy: him in the Santa suit as the last man(skank) standing in 3010 while the world withers under the nuclear fallout… I’m just glad I’ll be long dead by then, hahaha.

p.s. I hope the photos of the other dudes on your list turn up soon. Wish I could be of more help, but all I can recall is the screen shot of Yamada Takayuki in that bloody Santa suit from Byakuyakou… and he’s not even on your list, lol.

Awesome post, thanks for the laughs!!! XDDD

***

@ Peggy – Happy holidays, dearest! *mwah* Oooh, KimuTaku as a reindeer??? Now this I gotta see!!! Was he cuter as a reindeer than as P-chan the Eropet? Hard to top that one! ^^;;

31 12 2010
jicks

The piccies didn’t take too long to find, all I did was google “Santa” + “guy’s name” & scrolled through a few pages, so no probs at all. I’m just glad to be of amusement!! :DDDDD

Re Fugitive, it’s not the hit series I was hoping for in Rainy’s comeback to dorama world but it’s enjoyable nonetheless. Like Peggy suggested, just don’t take it too seriously, esp in the beginning, & if you can hang around enough, a plot does eventually eventuate. It might be my fangurling side seeping through but Bi is fun to watch (even with all the gag-obvious deep V-necks xDD), he really does just has this unexplainable onscreen presence (<<<Yep, fangurling hard right there -_-; (!!!)*puts in order for six-pack chicken nuggets*) Oh, & may I add, Lee Jung Jin is oozing charisma these days xDD (Peggy, did I hit the nail on the head? xPP)

Re Narcissist Jun: I could be wrong but I think he is. I seem to recall reading about it somewhere once upon a time & also, from simply just watching the way he behaves on all of Arashi's programs & appearances on other shows, I've come to form this impression. But there's nothing wrong with that I guess xDD

bwahahahaha ^O^;;;;; I couldn't stop chuckling for minutes when you blatantly dropped the "SO GAY" comment!!!!! Then the idea of Kame as an elf performing his merry services LMFuureakingAO *shields eyes* I dunno about being a lil elf but we could possibly set up a Mr & Mrs Claus scenario, like, as in Mr & Mrs Smith, & the two of them can try to, mmm, shave each other's heads at first because of some misunderstanding but later team back up to take down Johnny K when they find out the old man has been feeding each of them lies about the other one lol

Photobucket
^^See, Kame has his game-face on already! :D

———
P.S. I forgot about that scene of Yamada on the nature strip in Byakuyakou! *smacks head* (He doesn’t need my wishes anyways, the dude has skillllz^^) Speaking of which, I finished watching the series recently & all I can say is THANKYOU for the rec!!!!!! Superb series. And yah, Yamada kicked some serious ass. Hecks, now I need to run off to read ya review ;))

*looks at Kame*

Ahahahahahahahhahahaa

(one more time, with feeling!)

Ahahahahahahahahahahaha

You always seem to push all my right buttons, jicks! (That, and your Photoshopping skills are INSANE! ^^;;) Kame lookin’ fierce + that pose screaming “don’t mess with me biy@tch” + baggy Santa suit + champagne-colored ribbon and snowball for accessories + and the piece de resistance — THE FAKE BEARD!!! = Win Win Win!!! Although I’m not really sure if that’s actually facial hair… or egg whites dripping from his chin… or (best of all) the remains of the cream pie Jin slapped on Kame’s face as a farewell present (hmmm I wonder that became of the rest of the pie… if ya know what I mean tehehehe). I guess what I wanted to say is… Thank you muchly for that Santaskankalicious present-o!!! I shall treasure it for the rest of the new year, LMAO

Re that Mr & Mrs Claus fic starring J. and K. … I DARE YOU TO WRITE IT!!!! lulz ^^;;

p.s. Wooot!!! You got Byakuyakoued too!!! Glad you were also wowed by Yamada’s performance. Ayase wasn’t too shabby either lol. Are you holding your breath for the J-movie? hehehe XD

(one more time, with feeling!)
Ahahahahahahahahahahaha

^^LMAO, Priceless reaction! I almost passed out trying to contain myself from laughing too hysterically because I was reading this on my lunch break at work! Well, I’m glad you liked the pic xDD I hope you put it into good use! Like, maybe you could do a batch Christmas card production using Santa Kame & distribute them to everyone for the Festive Season of 2011 ^^;

Oh I’m no good with dares so I may just have to pass on the fanfic! I’m afraid I will get waaaaay too emotional lol But if I ever do summon enough guts to do it, I will be sure to dedicare an entire chapter to the cream pie business, haha (but I’m not too sure on how I should end it… *shoves head under running water*)

Re Byakuyakou the J-movie, I am definitely anticipating it! You? I am a teeny bit apprehensive though, only because I haven’t really LOVED Horitika Maki in anything since Nobuta (she’s been solid but not blow-my-freaking-socks-off-fantastic) & like you said, Ayase Haruka rocked pretty hard herself in the series. Don’t know much about Kora Kengo (although I did google him & apparently he’s appeared in a few things I’ve watched >_>…)

E.G

Nothing could be more ero than Kimura in his Pink Poodle manifestation.
I adore P.P.
I am watching some of Fugitive Plan B I like what I see and it makes me laugh. It is a takeoff of any Bond movie and Bi is pretty good with the comedic side of things. If you ever saw ‘Man of God’ then this is the parody. I think it is pretty good. Not to be taken seriously at all. Besides there’s a wonderful detective there who makes my heart flutter. You will kow him when he comes into view. Hmmmm Take a breath, he surely knows how to caress an ear and slide into a kiss. Watch for it. It is a new move that I have not seen in a Korean drama before.

4 01 2011
Ender's Girl

@ Peggy

Hope you had a memorable New Year celebration! XD

Maybe Fugitive embraced the full-on camp of the early spy genre? If Bi is injecting some comedy into his acting, at least he’s showing some versatility lol ^^;;

Like jicks, will def. be on the lookout for that Lee Jung-jin fella. The more gun-toting hotties running around Asia dodging bad guys, the better! XD

And okay, I believe you, P-chan the Pink Eropet is still king of the cuddly furries! ^^;;

Peggy

Plan B is approaching the finish line I think and Jung Jin is becoming more and more delicious. He now looks much cleaner and sharper as he tries to stop being a detective. His assistant is so lucky really. She is definitely not the glamorous type here but she has him handcuffed in more ways than one. He looks so huggable or maybe it’s grabbable. Whatever.

2 01 2011
jicks

He looks so huggable or maybe it’s grabbable. Whatever.
^^lololol Grabbable! Oh, I just learned a new word! *wipes tears from eyes* Thankyou for enriching my vocabulary :DD

But I’m totally feeling you, Peggy, although this is the first series I’ve seen him in, I’d still very merrily be his sidekick xDDDD

3 01 2011
Peggy

:-) Hi jicks,

Well I have always found Jung Jin very watchable also. After he came out of the military he did a drama called ‘Nine Innings, Two Outs’ which is a baseball term. However it was not quite a baseball drama mainly. He looked quite slim and rather lowkey but very attractive. It was a pleasant, somewhat nostalgic story but quite romantic really. I think the girl was Su Ae but not positive. Anyway there were a few very acceptable love scenes. He does do a very genuine love scene. Makes me wonder where he gets all the practice.

4 01 2011
Peggy

I find it quite impossible to look at any videos or previous dramas of Lee Eons. I liked him so much and he was just such a genuine and sweet person. Too painful now to see him.
The holiday schedules have been haywire on the TV. Maybe getting back to a norm at last. Just discovered that Charlie Rose is now on the Bloomberg TV channel. They are all over the world so maybe you can look out for some of his wonderful guests and sharp discussions. I like CR very much.

By the way…since we had small imperceptible ero whispers here and there…I was thinking just now about Eric and the Shinwha guys. He is back out of the army and has already done a film or drama. Does anyone out there remember a video they did a few years ago when they were prancing through the woods and into a lake wearing their natural skins????? Very clever photography and a rock or branch here and there..but only just in time it seemed. I wondered what happened to that video. Just an idle curious thought.

5 01 2011
jicks

Oh so Lee Jung Jin is done & dusted with his military service? *dances circle of joy* That is what I like to hear! While serving your country is a hugely respectable & honorable for anyone to do, there’s nothing more frustrating for a fan than having just discovered an artist who then vanishes off the entertainment scene for two years. TWO YEARS- t’is ain’t a short time. And the poor guys can even be forgotten about & replaced by the next biggest thing by the time they return!

Never watched a single second of The Charlie Rose Show but the guy has interviewed some of the most significant peeps in this world, so perhaps I should be tuning in… what’s his style like?

Shinhwa! *hearts on MinWoo* Please share the video you speak of Peggy! I mean, natural skins? I’m all for all things au naturale! (Btw, I’m starting to think that you are the source of all the goodies… *grins*) It’s been a long time since I’ve played one of Shinhwa’s tracks but oh how I remember crooning to some of their tunes ^_^ Gah, sometimes I wish boybands could just stay together forever…

6 01 2011
Peggy

jicks,
Charlie Rose interviews big names from all walks of life. He did a fascinating series with scientists who knew more about the brain than I have ever imagined. Very interesting and made me realise that when I use my favourite phrase ‘it’s all in the mind’ I am speaking truth. Not all political interviews are that great for me. He does films and theatre actors and directors very well. He is well informed. Must have interns doing searches I think. Latest one I liked was book by the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire. She is the last remaining Mitford sister. ( One sister, Unity Mitford??was politically far left during the WWII) Dowager was the only one to live a more normal kind of life. Interesting and I have to get it to read all the details.
Now..that Shinhwa thingy. I have no video and no pics. My PC has been sick and they put in this new Win7 and in the process lost lots of longstored up stuff. Can’t find things, and some things I find, I can’t open. I am not in a good mood lately.Lost a lot of very grabbable Kimura stuff. Pictures as well.
I don’t think it impossible that sometime in the future this Shinhwa group may do an album. They are not officially disbanded. They were a very close little band of guys and they enjoyed what they did together. Too bad the army service spread them apart. I think the only way to find that clip would be to fish around in fan groups or even in soompi. It goes back aways but it is worth a try. They were having a ball trying to fool the photog. and make him antsy about getting sight of off the record parts. funny. I think the branches of trees helped him here and there. Yes… naked as jaybirds.

:-) I may be antique..but I’m still valuable and alive in my cave.

8 01 2011
jicks

^lmao at your last line ^^;;; Hey, Peggy, there is nothing wrong with appreciating the good things in life- regardless of the numbers game xDD I know myself (& maybe E.G.) am(are) most certainly guilty of frothing finding interest over a certain M.H.

Btw, I’m not a techxpert by any means but hope you can restore your grabbable goodies soon? Or are they gone for good? You can always start the stalking process again ;P

8 01 2011
Peggy

Hi jicks,
Well I am hanging on to the internet with a rope and a lifesaver. Really I can’t get myself on centre at all with this win7. There is no pattern to what it will do no matter how careful I am with clicking. I have lost any backup place which while it is not desperate, it is still a puzzle. I try to d.l from a url. given by someone in a post and I think it is d.l OK and then it finishes and immediately vanishes before I can save or open or do anything. Totally weird. I am not an expert but I really did know my way around my PC when I had WinXP. Sorry to be bitching and moaning but at my age who is going to stop me. I shall persevere however. all that stuff has got to be in the hard drive somewhere. Of course I have three hard drives counting the External so finding the right one is a bit of a trick.
OH ! and the text keeps changing it’s size so sometimes I need to magnify and sometimes the opposite. At least I know how to do that.
Life is just a bowl of cherries. If you like cherres.

11 01 2011
jicks

haha cherries, no, can’t say I am a fan, so no thankyou… I much prefer watermelons lol

But woah, three harddrives! *hails at Peggy’s feet* You must have a treasure chest of goodies! I only hope you can restore everything, or at least, the bulk of the good stuff. Is there someone who can give you give you a guiding hand (perhaps a tech-geek boy who simply needs to take off his spectacles to turn into instant hotness? Superman? lol)? Honestly, I’m no pro, and I’m not sure how new or old your PC is but my only advice to you is if you can’t get your head around Windows7, then maybe it’s best to go back to XP. I have to say that I barely know of anyone who ever said a bad thing about XP.

9 01 2011
Ender's Girl

YepYepYep, def. wanna watch Byakuyakou the movie too, after Bandage, Kimi ni Todoke, Yamato and Ashita Joe… phew! Looks like we have our work cut out for us, lol

I’m so with you regarding Maki. I want to give her a chance as Yukiho, but… if she continues to disappoint in this post-Nobuta trajectory, it might only prove that the success of the Nobuta character was more to the writer & director’s credit than to Maki’s.

Haha, so you and Kora-san are already acquainted. XDDD (btw have you seen Norwegian Wood?) I hafta admit, the boy is cute and intense-looking. I dunno if he can steal the thunder from Yamada Takayuki (not likely, esp. since Kora Kengo’s acting opposite Maki lol), but let’s wait ‘n’ see… *strokes chin*

11 01 2011
jicks

Oh yeah Yamato! Almost forgot about it! haha I’ve heard the film isn’t doing too badly, so I guess Mr K.T. has still got (some of) it :) I have to say though, Ashita Joe is probably at the bottom of the list outta the films you mentioned… despite Pi’s emotionally-charged performance in the trailer for the film haha (but it’s okay, I will still watch it fo’sho’ ;P)

Definitely agree with Kora-san having his work cut out for him having Maki-chan as a sparring partner, lol. But seriously, I suppose I will just have to try my hardest with every version of a series &/or movie I see- clear my mind beforehand of the predecessors & treat it like it’s the first (difficult as heck but meh ><…)

Nope, I've not seen Norwegian Wood- you? Although it's rare that a great novel translates into a great live-action film, I am still hanging out for it big time!!! Everything I've seen of it so far seems very visually beautiful, so, hey, even if the story sucks, at least our eyes will be in for a treat. I also think Kikuchi Rinko is kinda cool (& of course, Matsuyama Kenichi rawks :))

12 01 2011
Peggy

Apropos of absolutey nothing…. I have to mention a film I saw on TV this past week. It is Korean 2006 and called ‘Monopoly’ It is mystery thriller. It is like no film I have seen from Korea..but then I have not seen too many films as yet. Mostly stay with dramas. Anyway, it has one of my hunks, Kim Sung Soo when he was still slim and sinewy a la ‘SSandLove’ days. The other guy is the one from ‘Cinderella Man’ and I think ‘Ruler of your own World’. Can’t bring up his name for the moment. Anway I really enjoyed this film. It is an hour and a half. It is creepy and I could not understand how the end happened at all. It is clever and I think you would like it if you can find it. I am going to search to see if it is on one of the sites because I want to see it again. I don’t know the actress but she is pretty good here.

I am still in recovery after finishing ‘SKKS’ which I wanted to go on forever.

14 01 2011
jicks

You like Kim Sung Soo? I can definitely see how he is attractive to many other women, however, personally I’ve never felt anything for him. I think this is because my first encounter with the man was in Full House & since he was in the way of my baby Bi, I’ve just automatically kept a disliking for him^^; Not too shabby of an actor though :)

Hey, you get South Korean films on TV regularly, Peggy? That’s so cool! What country are you from? Where I am, we have one foreign channel and it’s far from often that we get too many Asian movies airing on TV. And usually the ones that do make it to screen are your more “known” ones, you know, the titles that are more likely to be familiar to the Western audience.

Oh, another SKKS raver! Looks like I must get onto the series! :) What were your thoughts on it? I heard the ending was a lil questionable…

Hi jicks
Someday you should try to see the film that Kim Sung Soo has been trying to live down I think. It’s called ‘Sweet Sex and Love;’ Nudging up against soft porn but there is no denying he plays it with panache. No way you will hate him after seeing his backside. Or the opposite. If it is not online I know it is available somewhere for sale. I dumped my copy of the DVD because I thought it better not to have someone find it in my collection.!!
Now please do me a favour and watch SKKS. It is the most wonderful drama set in the Joseon period and the costumes are so interesting despite being students garb through most of the show. The four main characters are ones to admire and you will probably fall in love with the three males. I had never seen Park Yucheon before and I think this is is first main acting job, since he was actually a member of DBSK, and then he and two others broke away and became JYJ. He is adorable. Then so is Songgi adorable and then so is the other guy. I could go on. I have posted and commented on other forums. You will enjoy this drama especially if you know anything about the history of the Korean Joseon period. It was very Confucian then and women were chattel as in ‘Goods and chattel’. No rank at all. It’s funny ,romantic, exciting and a mystery but once you see it you won’t let it go. I am still in withdrawal.
The ending is not questionable but it is a bit rushed and up in the air. I have stated my own wished for ending somewhere. Maybe on Dramabeans on the SKKS thread.
I live in S.California almost on the beach. My husband and I retired here. We are both English. I love my little cave and I am antisocial these days.I miss my true live very much. Did enough of that social stuff through the sixty years of marriage and business etc. Now I am alone and have my head into Asia.I have cable TV and I have about ten Asian channels.I watch Korean on about four or five and Japanese on four and the rest is Chinese.I like the 24hr Beijing channel becaause a lot of it is in English.
There is not enough time in the day to find and see and do everything I want to do, but I live minute by minute and enjoy every one of them. It’s the only way to go.
I really enjoy this site and the interesting postings… :-)

^Thankyou Peggy for that last line! Means alot :) It’s nice to know that I’m amusing people in a somehow-somewhat good way… (as opposed to terrifying everyone away ohohoho -_-;;;;;;)

Alright done deal, you’ve convinced me, I will hop on board the SKKS bandwagon!!! But… not right this second, lol. I have several Kdramas lined up (Playful Kiss, My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho, Athena) and not to mention my Jdorama and Taiwanese drama list! Boy have I managed to fall behind over the holiday season *note to self: MUST MAKE UP FOR IT ASAP* Actually, you know what, for you I will bump SKKS up to just behind Playful Kiss (have the itch to do the Joe Cheng VS Kim Hyun Joong comparison- but I have a strong inkling I know who I will backing xDD) My knowledge of Korean history pales in comparison to other say China and Japan, so all the more reason to dig into SKKS ;P

Btw Peggy, don’t take this the wrong way, for some reason I’d assumed you were Asian! Not that race has anything to do with things, so hey, moving right along! Just happy to know that people all around the globe can share the same love :)))

Oh I think I’m too scared to watch that Kim Sung Soo movie!! haha Sounds like one of those flicks where you just get awkward watching it with someone else (like with your boyfriend on your first date, parents, friends etc etc… >>…) but I will definitely keep it in the back of my mind so thankyou going to the trouble and sharing the link :)

Yes! Yes! Bi in Runway is the kinda Bi I like ^_^! For a while I was getting concerned watching him take on eccentrically “all over the place” roles but I’m glad he’s more or less veered back into this light comedian style as you described, which is what I feel like his natural charm works well for (my Bi fangirling side shining through!)

Jicks,
Meant to ask you if you are watching Bi in his latest drama ‘ ,,Plan B’
It’s a great take off on James Bond type films. If you have seen ‘Man of God’ drama then this is a total parody of most of that story with all the electronic fadgets. I think it is funny and worth watching. and Bi is marvellous being a light comedian as a Private Investigator.

Hi jicks.
Well I take it as a great compliment that you thought I was Asian. Really it means that in some way I am beginning to think as an Asian mind would think. I am totally immersed in Korean, Japanese and Chinese films, dramas and history. It has opened up a new world for me to see what happens in the part of the world that has been so far away. The most fascinating details have shown me that most of everything began in China as far as discoveries are concerned. It just took outside travellers and adventurers to bring knowledge back and over the centuries of course other countries claimed things to be their own. Now the wheel has turned again and I maintain that all Western children should be learning mandarin if not the other Eastern languages. My enjoyment is almost a 24 hour thing as I watch TV and use my PC almost exclusively on Asian channels and sites.
Your blogs are so interesting and I really get your opinions about so much and it is sometimes mind opening. :-)

Exclusive Asian shows & websites? And I thought I was the only one! You know what Peggy, to me it feels like your knowledge & understanding of Asian culture is greater than many Asians themselves… me surely for one. I spent the most part of my early childhood trying to “Westernise” myself, my teeny years trying to “urbanise” myself, & now finally, over the last few years, I’ve come to immerse myself back into my own culture. Better late than never I say ;O Although I have to say this “watching only Asian things” thing (exceptions: anything involving Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio and the Pixar gang :D!) for me has its downfalls since 99.999% of my colleagues & friends I see everyday have no interest in Asian entertainment so sometimes it can be difficult to relate to them- apparently, they don’t get my fascination with lanky men who don man-heels, groom their eyebrows & wear “guyliner” lol

Btw, I don’t know about being mind opening but it’s more myself emptying my mind out :P But thankyou from the bottom of my heart for such nice words! Your comments Peggy always make me smile ^_^

jicks,
Don’t watch the Kim Sung Soo film with someone else. That is if you watch it at all. Actually it did not shock me. Not much does now..but in some ways it was repetitious and boring. However, too much knowledge in very graphic scenes for younger inexperienced minds.
